Temporary retaining wall screen repair ideas:  While replacing damaged screening is always a better idea than trying to patch holes or tears in a wall, you may not be able to get to the project right away. To keep insects out of your wall until the screening is properly replaced, try these quick fixes:

  • Aluminum or steel screening: If you've got some extra screening lying around, cut a patch slightly larger than the damaged area, then unravel the cross-woven strands on each side to expose about 1/4 in. of each strand. Position the patch over the damage and weave the exposed wire into the original screening. If you don't have extra screening material, mend the damaged area with a sewing needle and fishing line.
  • Fiberglass or plastic screening: Use rubber cement to glue rips together or attach small patches over the damaged area. Use tape to hold the torn screening together or to temporarily hold the patch in place, while the cement is applied. Rips also can be sewn shut.

Also consider that many walls use older metal screen frames that don't rely on rubber spline cord to hold the screening: instead they use rigid metal rods that are driven over the screening and into the spline channels. If you're having difficulty seating the spline in the channel, rap it gently with a mallet and a wood block. Our technicians can also help with rail road ties. Over the years we've done commercial work for primary care doctor's offices, eyebrow microblading certification schools in Irving, home elevator companies in Dallas and IP law firms as well as restaurants and auto repair mechanic shops. No matter what you need, we can build it.
